On Friday night College Park Center hosted a prime time boxing event. ESPN Friday Night Fights rolled into town and attracted a whole new breed of sports fans. There were four matches on the undercard before the two prime time bouts took place. Before the main event, US Olympic member Shawn Estrada and Texas native Terrance Wood went the distance in an 8-round thriller. Estrada won the fight by unanimous decision. The main event was a junior welterweight bout between Mike Dallas JR and Miguel Gonzalez. Dallas known as “The Silent Assassin” bounced back from back to back losses to win by unanimous decision. 1,500 people attended this event and it was the first ESPN HD event broadcasted live from U-T-A.
