The Ones

UTA Criminal Justice Senior, Joshua Polidore, is in the process of starting a community service based organization on campus. As one of the founding members of The Ones, Polidore along with the other founders want to increase the relationship between off campus students and on campus students. They hope to start hosting interest meetings and events at the beginning of next semester. If you are interested in being a part of this organization look for information posted around campus.

FLOC

Freshman Leaders on Campus hosted a social to help freshman students meet new people. The social was hosted at the Bowling and Billiards located in the University Center. FLOC hosted this event in an effort to help freshman students create strong bonds as they progress in college.

Founder’s Day

Happy Birthday UTA! A UTA organization helped students celebrate the university’s one hundred and seventeenth birthday. To celebrate UTA’s birthday known as Founder’s Day, Maverick Marauders created large birthday cards for students to sign. They also provided snacks and water for students who participated. The university keeps all of its birthday cards to so be sure to wish UTA a Happy Birthday.

Fall Fashion

The colors of the leaves are changing for fall but are UTA students adjusting their fashion styles with it? With the start of the new season comes some changes in fashion including colors, patterns, and styles. Some UTA students are currently adjusting their styles to fit the current changes in weather. Others won’t be making major adjustments to their wardrobes this fall season. How will your styles change for fall?

Debate Watch

A UTA Organization is providing resources to help students prepare for the upcoming presidential election. The Honor’s College Council held a Debate Watch for the presidential debate over domestic policy. One of their goals was to keep students informed and involved in whats going on in the current election. The organization kept the attention of all attendees with live polling. Those who attended were given surveys before and after the debate to see if any opinions changed. Everyone was also given the opportunity to register to vote. iPhone 5 vs iPhone 4/4S


With the release of Apple’s iPhone 5 UTA students debate whether or not the upgrade is worth it. When Apple releases a new product they also release updates for the previous versions of the iPhone. With the updates the previous versions are comparable to the newest edition of iPhone.  The iPhone 5 is  slimmer, faster, and has upgraded its applications such as its maps. Would you stand in line for the iPhone 5?

Maverick Marauders

Maverick Marauders is the governing body of the Student Alumni Association. This organization helps to get students involved by promoting school spirit both on and off campus with events such as Oozeball. Maverick Marauders provides networking and leadership skills to all of its members. They are responsible for planning the Student Alumni Association T-Shirt days. In addition, Maverick Marauders make survival kits for students to help them get through their finals. All of the money that is raised at their events goes toward student scholarships. Maverick Marauders also assist the Alumni Association with their events. The main focus of this organization is to make sure students are achieving their academic goals as well as being an active participant in campus activities.

Delta Upsilon Truck Smash

Every year Delta Upsilon has the opportunity to work with various charities. This semester they started off with a bang when hosting their first Truck Smash event. They hosted this event in an effort to raise money for their international philanthropy Global Service Initiative. Delta Upsilon has the opportunity to send members of their fraternity to other countries to help build schools for poverty stricken areas. Some of the money that was raised was also donated to hurricane relief programs in the Gulf Coast. While building schools in other countries, Delta Upsilon is building better men.
