La Toya Jackson will perform at MJ Tribute

La Toya Jackson has announced she will perform in a tribute to her brother Michael in Cardiff, Wales next month. It’s the singer’s first full live performance in 20 years.  She joins an A-list lineup of artists scheduled to perform at the event including, Jamie Foxx, Black Eyed Peas and Christina Aguilera.    Jackson says she looks forward to putting on a great show and making her brother Michael proud.

Maintaining a Healthy Community

The UT Health Services Center will make flu shots available to students, faculty and staff beginning October 25. UTA encourages  all to get a seasonal flu shot early this fall as one step to maintaining a healthy community.  In an article found at Highlight Health found that hand shakes, water fountains, elevator buttons and door knobs were amoung the top ten places where flu germs hide.

To avoid the spread of germs:

  1. Wash your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer.
  2. Cover your coughs and sneezes.
  3. Do not attend class or go to work if you are ill or experiencing a fever.

Well you may be shocked to find out that Sweet Potato Pie took the win with the most votes among students.

UTA Halloween Casino Night

 

Rowlett or Black Jack whatever your choice, you don’t have to travel to Vegas to try your luck.  UTA students brought their poker face and good luck charms for a night of friends, drinks and contests at Halloween Casino Night.  The event is sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs with its main goal of encouraging students to make changes to social norms for underage drinking.  UTA students were able to play games like bingo,  poker, drunk goggles, and win many  prizes.    Thirsty students could enjoy a tasty non-alcoholic drink at the Mock Bar.

UTA Students Upset about Graduation Tickets

February 1, 2012 is the most anticipated day in UTA history with the opening of College Park.  Returning Mavs will get a chance to participate in the events at College Park such as concerts, homecoming and basketball games.  December graduates are upset that they wont be able to make part of Maverick history.
