THE RANGERS PLAYED THEIR HOME OPENER ON FRIDAY AS NEARLY FIFTY THOUSAND FANS SHOWED UP TO WATCH THEM TAKE ON THE WHITE SOX. THE HIGHLIGHT BESIDES COLBY LEWIS HAVING NINE STRIKEOUTS WAS IAN KINSLER GOING 3 FOR 4 WITH A HOMERUN. THE RANGERS TOOK 2 OUT OF THREE FROM THE SOX OVER THE WEEKEND. YU DARVISH WILL MAKE HIS MAJOR LEAGUE DEBUT TONIGHT AS THE RANGERS GET SET TO PLAY A FOUR GAME SERIES AGAINST THE MARINERS.

Miss Black & Gold Pageant

IT LOOKS LIKE PAGENT SEASON HAS ARRIVED. THE 35TH ANNUAL MISS BLACK AND GOLD PAGEANT WAS HELD JANUARY 29TH IN THE ROSEBUD THEATER. CONGRATUATIONS TO DOMINIQUE CORMIER AS SHE WAS NAMED THE WINNER AND TOOK HOME A TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLAR SCHOLARSHIP AS GRAND PRIZE. DOMINIQUE AND SIX OTHER LADIES WERE JUDGED BASED ON SWIMSUITS, EVENING WEAR, VERBAL RESPONSE AND TALENT. SHE’S EXPECTED TO COMPETE IN A STATE COMPETITION IN HOUSTON NEXT MONTH.

Graduation Tickets

 

Spring 2012 commencement is approaching soon bringing a familiar issue at UTA. Students react to the news that holding the ceremonies in College Park Center may not mean a guaranteed increase in the amount of tickets they recieve.

Make A Splash

The City of Arlington Department of Parks and Recreation hosted Make a Splash on March 31, 2012 to celebrate the importance of water safety. It offered recidendents a free, fun-filled day of activities with programs on water safety education, scuba demonstrations and indoor kayaking.
