Exploring St. Petersburg, Florida

St. Petersburg, Florida is often known as a city in the shadow of Tampa. Florida is filled with hip, active destination travel spots. St. Petersburg has a long, rich history in the state of Florida. Their population began to boom after World War two. This year it is the home to the Baltimore Orioles for spring training. It is an ideal spot to catch rare fish and spot numerous sea creatures. St. Petersburg real estate is a jem. Houses often cost up to the millions that are located on the water. Tourists can learn all of St. Petersburg history at the Gulf Beaches Museum. The museum is free and offers a small, affordable gift shop.

Inside view of CNN-Atlanta

Atlanta is a growing cutural and media center. It is also the home of CNN headquarters. CNN headquarters are located downtown next to Centennial Olympic Park. It’s also directly connected to the the Omni Hotel and Philips Arena. CNN offers a rare glimpse inside the busy world of TV journalism with their  55-minute guided walking tour. The public retail area also includes a food court and the cartoon network store. There is also a gift shop for tourists eager to buy CNN collectables. Tickets are no more than $15 and open daily from nine to five.

Meet me in St. Louis

Have you ever wanted to see what the world looks like from the top of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis? Well now you can. Reporter Stephanie Knefel visited the arch and gives an inside view of the arch and the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial.The monument is the centerpiece of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. The Museum of Westward Expansion is loctaed directly below the Arch. It is maintained by the National Park Service and an icon to the city of St. Louis. The Arch has been open to the public since 1967. It is often referred to as the gateway to the west because of it’s rich ties with history.

UTA students share their political views

With the media hoopla surrounding the upcoming fall election, reporter Stephanie Knefel decided to ask UTA students how the felt about politics. Several students were upset with Obama, but felt he was doing the best he could in a hard situation. Students also felt that the Republican party took too long in finding someone to run aganist Obama. Many students were stressed over the economy, since they hope to enter the job force after graduating college. Some also expressed concern over immigration, gay marriage, and online rights. Most students did not know who will they will be voting for yet. Some know they will not vote for Obama, but they also do not have a Republican favorite. Emmitt Smith

Football Legend Emmitt Smith is presenting his Championship vision and expertise to UTA on October 20, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. Emmitt Smith is most known for being the National Football League’s all-time leading rusher surpassing Walter Payton, with 18,355 yards. He played for 14 seasons, 12 with the Dallas Cowboys and then the Arizona Cardinals.He won three Super Bowl victories with the Dallas Cowboys. Smith was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010 on his first year of eligibility,something NFL players dream about. Smith also showed his athletic quality when he won the 2006 television show, “Dancing With the Stars.”

Bridal Bootcamp

Carley Hanna is not only a UTA alumni, but her own boss. After working as a personal trainer and getting married, she decided to start her own bootcamp, but for women only. Carley runs the only  bridal bootcamp near UTA and Arlington. She hopes that women can create a healthy lifestyle even after their wedding.  She says that sometimes it’s better for women to have a female personal trainer so they can feel more comfortable. She started her bootcamp only about two months ago and is excited about her young companies future. Girls who want to try out her bootcamp are allowed one-week passes for free, and encouraged to bring their female friends.
