The UTA Fencing club meets each week to practice and train in the age-old sport of fencing. Fencing refers to a family of sports and activities that feature armed mêlée combat. Modern fencing originated in France and is one of the four sports which has been featured at every modern Olympic Game. Fencing is often described as “Physical Chess” because of the mental aspect of the sport, but it can also be very physically demanding. The club practices and promotes this art, and accepts anyone who would like to join, even walk-ins. These members also get the chance to compete locally, nationally, or internationally. The Maverick Fencing Club practices Mondays and Thursdays from six to eight PM and Fridays from five-thirty to seven-thirty PM in the MAC room 133.
