Have you ever wondered if video games have a meaningful purpose in every day life? Social work graduate student Kimberly Shashoua developed a theory that can help anyone learn life lessons through video games. Basically, multiple branching storylines in video games that force the player to think on their feet and deal with the consequences of their decisions are one of the ways in which people can learn from video games. Shashoua’s research will be presented this year at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Shashoua said that she couldn’t believe the news whenever she received the email from the people at GDC.
