Marine Disease

The biology department hosted an esteemed marine biology professor last week as a part of their colloquium lecture series. Dr. Colleen Burge, Assistant Professor, Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology, University of Maryland gave a lecture titled “Host-Pathogen Interactions in a Changing Ocean.” The lecture showcased Dr. Burge’s research on diseases on sea stars and oysters and the effects they are causing on marine environments. Even though we are not near a coast here at UTA, these marine diseases can still affect us.The next Biology Colloquium lecture is Thursday, October 29. Hosting Dr. Bryan Carstens from Ohio State Univeristy.
