The UTA Lady Mavericks played their penultimate home game against the Troy Trojans at the College Park Center Thursday Night. Both teams had pink apparel for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The Lady Mavericks trailed the Trojans by a game in the Sunbelt standings. UTA ultimately won 78-72 with guard Cierra Johnson leading all scorers with 22 points. Rebekah VanDijk was marred with foul trouble, only scoring seven points. UTA forced 22 turnovers against an aggressive Troy club and currently the Lady Mavs are sixth in the nation in turnovers. The Lady Mavericks regular season will conclude their season on the road. Thursday they’ll take on Louisiana-Monroe, and Saturday they will finish up with Louisiana.
