The UTA Softball team was scheduled to play six games in four days, including the Maverick Classic this weekend. The weekend started with the Lady Mavericks taking on the Southern Jaguars. The Mavericks were victorious 16-0 as UTA had an offensive explosion in the second inning scoring 11. Friday started the Maverick Classic as UTA played a double header. First they defeated on the Incarnate Word Cardinal 7-1, but they fell to the St. Francis Red Flash 5-2. Saturday continued the Maverick Classic as they played another double header. The Lady Mavericks once again won against the Incarnate Word Cardinals 11-3, but fell to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane 7-0 in the nightcap. Sunday was supposed to be a rematch between UTA and Tulsa, but the game was cancelled due to rain. UTA won three out of five games to make their record 12-9 overall in this young season. The Mavericks start Sunbelt play against the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks starting Saturday, March 11.
