The Gallery at UTA has been the home to many exhibits over the years, with new art shows on display each month. Including the most recent show, “The Telling and the Told which premiered at the Houston Museum of African American Culture before travelling to UTA. The show includes over thirty watercolors that were painted David McGee’s, who recently received this year’s TFAA Artist Award for Excellence. Benito Huerta, the Director and Curator for the Gallery here at UTA, says the paintings offer a mystery behind their meaning, and that this allows the viewer to make their own interpretation of what the painting portrays. One of the University’s Artistry Minors, who works for the gallery, says she loves this particular art gallery because of the story the paintings tell, as well as the references they make to current culture. The Telling and the Told gallery will be open to the public through March 10.
