Students Shares New Form of Therapy

One of the fastest growing sports all over the world has impacted the life of Valerie Smith, Climbing Mavs Club Co-Founder, who views rock climbing as her form of therapy. The physical and mental pressure involved with rock climbing requires intense focus, and helps Smith to destress, while also giving her a good technical challenge that is always changing. Valerie loves to train at other gyms outside of school, and has participated in several competitions with the climbing mavs, and looks forward to seeing the club grow. For club members Haley Garrett, and Esteven Martinez, rock climbing has helped them exercise their problem solving skills, as well as overcome a fear of heights. Smith encourages everyone to consider rock climbing, as it can be very therapeutic and provide a full workout.
