UTA’s multicultural affairs and NAACP hosted a vigil for Atatiana Jefferson who was killed by UTA alumnus Aaron Dean. Atatiana Jefferson was just sitting in her home with her nephew playing video games when Dean came and shot her. The police were called to Jefferson’s home due to a wellness call from a neighbor who was worried about her door being open. UTA wanted to bring awareness to this situation because we have seem countless of times of police brutality and the police not doing the right thing. Multicultural affairs and NAACP wanted students to take the time to reveal their frustrations and speak on ways the world can be a better place. Hopefully, we can work together to make the world a better place and stop the poor police behavior.
