This year marks the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. UTA students built a replica here on campus as part of the celebration. Students from the German Program in the Department of Modern Languages held a week-long exhibit of a mock Berlin Wall. The replica traveled to different locations on campus and it included interactive art exhibits and lectures. The purpose behind this was to educate students about the history of the wall and the effects that its division caused. The celebration came to an end with students tearing down the mock wall as they did in 1989. Its destruction was symbolic of the freedom and peace that came after.
