UTA Mens Basketball

After big road wins at Ohio State and Memphis, UTA took on two in state non conference foes this past week. In Austin, the Mavs fell to the Texas Longhorns 80-73 in overtime. A couple of Longhorn three pointers late in overtime put the game out of UTA’s reach. Sophomore forward Kevin Hervey led UTA with 15 points and as many rebounds earning his first double double of the season. The Mavs the headed to El Paso where they picked up a 76-62 victory over UTEP. Erick Neal, Jalen Jones, Kaelon Wilson and Kevin Hervey all notched double digit scores in the win. The Mavs now hold a 7-2 record and recently cracked the Mid-Major Madness Power rankings.

Brock, Texas product becomes a Lady Maverick

Brock, Texas product, Kamy Cole has come to UTA after playing at both TCU and SMU. As a freshman at TCU Cole averaged 9 points a game, but after her first season Cole transferred to SMU. After sitting out a season at SMU due to NCAA transfer rules Cole decided to give UTA a shot. Cole is happy to announce that she will finish her career as a Maverick.

Re dedication of Allan Saxe Field

The UTA softball team celebrated the re dedication of Allan Saxe Field with two Sun Belt Conference victories over Georgia Southern University on Saturday. The team is excited for all of the new renovations and expects it to bring more fans out to watch them play.
