Campus Carry

Campus Carry is a new law that will come into effect in August. This law has the potential to affect you and every student and faculty. In this story I interviewed students on campus and spoke to two professors. They expressed their thoughts over campus carry and talked about the impact it will have on the way they communicate and interact with one another. Like every new law, campus carry also presents its own challenges. No one will know exactly what impact campus carry will have on everyone until it is here, so we will just have to wait and see.

Ms. Aiken talks about how she transitioned from the Marine Corp to an instructor at UTA. She also discusses the similarities between the two.

Best of Both Worlds

James Overton is a computer science student who has always had an interest for technology. As a kid he would go around and mess with computers and televisions and would even be asked to fix things in his school as a 1st grader. James feels that he can go over and beyond with his major. He entertains the thought of one day working for the CIA and even being the modern James Bond. But James also expresses the same amount of talent and passion for music. In his story we learn that his parents have a lot to do with him showcasing passion for both technology and music.

Professor Kapellusch Interview

I recently sat down with Professor Kapellusch to discuss her career before becoming a professor and how her first career translated to what she is currently teaching. Professor Kapellusch mentions how 9/11 impacted her first career during a time when she was starting her family. As a professor, Kapellusch teaches business and professional communication, but when she first started teaching it was a tough transition for her because she now was dealing with students. Kapellusch talks about that transition and how she has evolved into the professor she is now. Another thing I was able to discuss with her was the main focal point of her class, which is utilizing service learning.

Time Management

“ADVANCE” has been created to offer sophomores and juniors more information about research opportunities, study abroad, major exploration, and career development. In this video we explore one of the workshops held by “ADVANCE” which dealt with time management. A student who is a Pre-Academic Leader gives the lecture to the students. In the lecture he gives the students an activity to do, as well as showcase how to help students with time management by showing them an empty jar and eventually filling the jar with different materials to symbolize time management. In the video we also learn how one student finds it difficult to manage her time and we hear from the student who gave the lecture.
