UTA’S DIRTY THIRTY (OOZE-BALL)

 

UTA hosted their 30th annual ooze-ball tournament! Also known as, “The Ooze-ball Dirty 30.” Whether you were here to take the new ooze- ball champion title or make mud angels, this event is guaranteed to make your day! Check it out! Who knew mud could be so fun?

UTA STUDENT DIES ON CAMPUS

[DEVELOPING]

UTA graduate student, Alan Amaya died on campus Friday night. The cause or manner of his death is still unknown. But it is believed that rushing waters swept him away and he drowned, due to all the rainfall and flooding. Arlington experienced five to seven inches of rain that tragic night. Stay tuned, more details on Alan ​Amaya coming soon.

UTA’S SPIRIT WEEK PEP RALLY

UTA’s annual Spirit week pep-rally held an outstanding amount of energy last Monday.

Spirit week is held for any UTA organizations down to participate in the daily competitions and events set up for a week straight. Whichever team has the most points by Friday is deemed the winner of Spirit week and is awarded a trophy.

UTA’s Student Government took the title for this year’s Spirit week!

UTA’S TRIOTA ORGANIZATION HOSTS LUNAFEST

UTA’s new organization, “Triota” is a service- oriented, Women and Gender studies Honor Society club.

Although Triota only has three members at the moment, they still managed to bring a National event called Lunafest.

Lunafest is a traveling film-festival celebrating, showcasing and empowering women in film!

UTA GLOBE LIFE PARK BALLGAME

UTA Maverick’s baseball team lost against the Baylor Bears at annual Globe Life Park ballgame.

Mavericks struggled on both sides of the ball, allowing nine runs off 17 hits. Baylor consistently capitalized on UTA’s mistakes, one of the main ones being defense.

Although Maverick’s didn’t perform as well as they expected to, the energy UTA students and fans held, was booming the entire game!

THOUGHTS ON SNAPCHAT UPDATE?

Reporter Lauren Ailles walks around campus asking fellow UTA students their opinion on the controversial Snapchat update.

According to most Snapchat users, the update has made it difficult for them to view their friend’s stories which is one of the main used features the app has to offer.

Snapchat may or may not change the settings back to the original favored format, due to high demand.

UTA’S POLAR BEAR PLUNGE

UTA hosted their seventh annual Polar Bear Plunge where over 100 students participated.

The plunge was available to any students daring enough to swim across the width of an outside pool in 33 degree, rainy weather.

UTA’S CHINESE NEW YEAR FESTIVAL

This years Lunar New Year was held on February 16th, initiating the year of the dog.

UTA’s Friendship Association of Chinese Students & Scholars held their annual Chinese New Year Festival Sunday night.

The showcase hosted multiple entertaining performances along with interactive games which covered facts on Chinese culture and traditions when it comes to their New Year.
