UTA Basketball vs. Appalachian State

The UTA men and women’s basketball teams hosted Appalachian State. The women were the first to take the court, they battled it out and were able to pick up the win sixty five to fifty eight. The men’s team also won the game with a score of ninety one to sixty.

UTA Construction

The University of Texas at Arlington has several construction projects underway. These projects include the remodeling of the starbucks in the University Center, the fab lab in the first floor of the Central library, the fifth floor of the University Hall and the one big construction project that had been put on pause but finally is being worked on, which is the Career Center in the University Center.

First Pitch Fundraiser

The UTA Baseball and Softball teams get ready to start swinging and begin an exciting season, but before they do, they had their annual First Pitch Fundraiser. The fundraising event invites UTA students, student athlete family, friends, Alumni and Maverick Club donors to join in a celebration. The event began with an Alumni game that was played at Clay Gould ballpark, followed by the opening ceremony, were student athletes got a chance to introduce themselves as well as the coaching staff. There was also a silent auction on several different autographed items, all funds raised are to support both the baseball and softball teams.

UTA vs ULM Men’s Basketball

The UTA Men’s Basketball team had a great season beating several of their competition at home and on the road. With the hopes  for a spot in the Sunbelt Confrence Championship but before they could put  their mind on that goal they had to face three of their toughest competitors one being the warhawks of the University of Texas at Arlington.

The UTA Baseball team took on the Texas A&M Corpus Cristi Islanders in a four game series. After winning the last two games on the road the Mavericks came back home hoping to keep their momentum going and pick up another win.

Dan Cavanagh is an associate professor here at the University of Texas at Arlington who is also the Associate Director of Jazz Studies. Dan Cavanagh has created various jazz compositions and has earned several awards. Throughout his years as a musician he has had the opportunity to travel and perform all around the U.S. He then found his love for teaching and empowering those future musicians. Professor Cavanagh has recently incorporated a new technology to better enhance his music in a new and creative way. This is just a small glimpse at his life in music.

How to buy a House

College students learn a lot while in school but one thing they don’t learn is how to buy their first home. Omega Delta Phi Fraternity hosted a workshop on campus teaching students the ins and outs on how to purchase a home. J.J. Chapa an Alumni of that organization who is also a realtor was the guest speaker. He taught students about the simple requirements that are needed to begin the home buyer process and what to expect when working with a professional.

Kappa Delta Chi Stroll Competition

The National Panhellenic and Multicultural Greek Councils are known for a great tradition which incorporates line dancing, but its not your typical line dancing they know it and call it strolling. Kappa Delta Chi a Multicultural Sorority here on campus hosted their very first TOO HOT Stroll Competition. The competition consisted of three different rounds an 80’s theme round were teams were to incorporate music and attire matching the decade. Slow Jam round, with slow music and the final round was freestyle teams were allowed to choose any music, dance and attire.

The UTA Men’s Basketball team played two off their toughest competitors within the same week, the first team they played was the University of Louisiana Lafayette the Rajun Cajuns. UTA won the game in over time with a three pointer with the final score being eighty four to eighty three. The following game they played was against the University of Louisiana Monroe who at the moment was tied for second place in the Sunbelt Conference. The UTA men’s team struggled at the beginning of the game to keep up with the War-hawks but came back to give them a fight in the second half but was unable to pick up the win.
